Utility Billing red tag fees increasing effective July 10

Due to an update to the Code of Ordinances for the City of Altoona, the fees for customers who receive a "red tag" notice for being delinquent on payment of utility bills is increasing to $35. This change is effective July 10, 2023.

Customers who are delinquent on their utility payment will be notified that their service will be discontinued with a "red tag" notice after they fail to pay their bill within 23 days after it was issued. Once a "red tag" notice is issued, the customer will be charged a $35 fee and the customer will have 48 hours to pay for their service or have their service discontinued. Once service is discontinued, it will not be restored until their account is fully paid.

Customers can pay fees and bills at City Hall (900 Venbury Drive) Mondays through Fridays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Bill payments can also be dropped off in the after hours boxes located in front of City Hall, or online. Customers can also sign up for email notices of billing to skip waiting for their postcard to arrive. To sign up for e-billing notices, click here.
