Traffic Impact 

Project Overview

Description
The project includes the reconstruction and widening of 36th Ave SW from 8th St SW to NE Hubbell Ave. Storm sewer improvements will also be included.

Location
Phase 1 reconstructs 36th Ave SW from 8th St SW to the north Walmart Access Driveway.
Phase 2 reconstructs 36th Ave SW from the north Walmart Access Driveway to NW Hubbell Ave

Purpose
Currently, 36th Ave SW is a three-lane roadway with heavy traffic. This project will be broken into two phases and will expand the road to 5 lanes to alleviate traffic congestion.

• Phase one will widen 36th Ave SW from 8th St SW to the north driveway access to Walmart. This phase will raise the profile of the roadway to better match the parking lots on either side. It will also include improvements to the storm sewer system.
• Phase two will widen 36th Ave SW from the north Walmart driveway access to NE Hubbell Ave. Storm sewer improvements will be a part of this phase as well.

Timeline
Phase 1 will begin construction in 2024 or 2025, depending on budget constraints.
Phase 2 will begin a year or two after phase one is complete.

Expected Traffic Impacts

Road Closures
Closures of 36th Ave will be closed in segments. Access will be maintained to all businesses in the area.

Detour Routes
The detour routes are TBD.

Lane Closures

Sidewalk & Trail Closures
All sidewalks and trails within the project area will be closed.
